En mi opinion las plantas en la medicina tienen un roll que nos ha ayudado henorme mente ,las nuevas medicinas estan compuestas de las plantas que hasta nosotros plantamos por ejemplo,el ajo nos sirve para Hipotiroidismo.
Irritación de esófago, estómago y boca, náuseas y vómitos.
Decrecimiento en la producción de hemoglobina, vértigos, aliento  de ajo y su olor desprendido a través del sudor.
Cólicos en los lactantes, pues sus constituyentes pasan a la leche materna.
Flatulencia, dolores abdominales, ligera obstrucción intestinal, rinitis, asma, sangramiento y hematomas.Uso tópico: dermatitis por contacto, pápulas y lesiones ulceronecróticas.

Volunteer Builders Needed! June 1,2,3

Next weekend is going to be our big building push and we need volunteers to come help frame walls and assemble roofs.
No experience or any construction experience is welcome!  Contact Ms. Barraza or Ms. Jen if you'd like to help out. 

And The Winner Is

After a heated debate over modern versus traditional the students decided to go for a hybrid of the two styles.  At the end of class on Friday we did a roll call for volunteers for site prepration on Saturday.  Two large compost bins and 12' of bushes had to be cleared to make way for the footprint of La Casita X.  Special thanks to Kjadija who volunteered even though she was not in the class!  Special thanks also to Ms. Harrington, Diego and Anna and her four siblings and friend for moving some earth today.

 

Choosing a Design

Each design  pulls together various ideas from the students' scale models.  The roof lines mimic geometry that the students came up with in their model, the windows, siding and roof texture all came from the students creativity.  Today we vote on which design to proceed with.

The student team has been hard at work planning, envisioning and designing the new Garden Shed.  We are almost ready to put down our pencils and glue guns and begin preparations for construction but first we need a little help from our friends!  If 100 people each give $10 then together we will reach our goal of $1,000 which will cover building materials for La Casita X!   Muchos Gracias!

"Well, the land has enormous significance because we depend on it, our history is recorded in the land that gives us our daily food, and also given us a place to live. the land on which we walk every day we have been polluting and never do anything to change this, we should try to protect what we have while we can, that is the only thing we have

mi nombre es Ana Lagunes soy  estudiante en la escuela Arroyo Paseo Charter High . Donde  se esta llevando a cabo un projecto llamado La Casita X .El tema de hoy es 'Que significado tiene la tierra para mi ". Bueno la tierra tiene un significado enorme porque dependemos de ella ,nuestra historia esta grabada en la tierra que nos da nuestra comida de cada dia ,y tambien nos a dado un lugar donde vivir. La tierra en la cual caminamos todos los dias la hemos estado contaminando y nunca hacemos nada por cambiar esto ,deberiamos tratar de cuidar lo que tenemos mientras podemos, por que es lo unico que tenemos ahorita. en mi opinion la tierra es un gran significado para cada uno de nos otros en mi opinion la tierra es un gran significado para cada uno de nos otros deberiamos de hacer algo por nuestra madre tierra ,para ya no contaminarla mas .y para no hacerlo mas largo la tieera tiene mi pasado mi presente y mi futuro ..  

Como nos ayuda trabajr en equipo?/how it helps our teamwork?

La casita x project is good to help our team work because we are going to thinking a lot because we give ideas of how we will be building the House and the design it will have.We all have given ideas of how we want the shed to look. My ideas are to have grass or plants on the roof of the House. I like this idea because the shed is for the garden and to expand the garden above the ceiling it would look very nice and apart you would give more of a natural look to the shed. Another idea that I like is to make a Toolbox on the side of the House to fit more things inside of the shed. Something that we did together to fix the garden was to clean were the dirt and dead grass are so we can put the shed there were it can be clean around it and not everything being dirty. Another thing we did together is that we threw away the grounded up fish bones giving an ugly aroma to the garden.

El proyecto de la casita x es bueno para ayudar a nuestro equipo para que trabaje bien porque vamos a pensar mucho porque nos dan ideas de cómo vamos a construir la casita. Construyendo la casa y el diseño tendrá un motivo bueno para nosotros porque vamos escoger como se va a mirar.  Todos hemos dado ideas de cómo queremos la casita que se mire. Mis ideas son tener pasto o plantas en el techo de la casa. Me gusta esta idea porque es el proyecto para el jardín y para poner pasto encima del techo se vería muy bonito y aparte daría más aspecto natural a la casita. Otra idea que me gusta es hacer una caja de herramientas en el lado de la casa para que quepan más cosas dentro de la casita. Algo que hicimos juntos es arreglar el jardín, limpiar poquito y quitar pasto muerto así podemos poner la casita en el pasto limpio y no todo está sucio. Otra cosa que hicimos juntos es que tiramos de la tierra huesos de peces dando un aroma feo al jardín.

Importancia de el club y como empecé 

      Mi relación con la tierra es que en el pasado me empecé a interesar en un club de ecología. No estuve el 100 % colaborando con el proyecto pero si asistían las juntas y me quedaba después de escuela con el grupo para recoger los botes de reciclaje y vaciando para estar seguro que todo del bote se podía reciclar. Me mude de escuela y empecé con este proyecto porque era una de mis clases. El jardín ya lo tenían cuando llegue. Empecé con el jardín por regar y después plantar. La importancia personal que tengo con el jardín era que empecé regando el jardín y después plantando chiles. También cuando vamos a clase tenemos tiempo de trabajar en el jardín. Lo que yo hago es desarraigar las hierbas malas y las plantas que no le dan suficiente espacio de las plantas que originalmente plantamos. La importancia académica que tiene este proyecto es que es grupo de colaboración y ayuda a los estudiantes a aprender a colaborar entre nosotros y venir a una conclusión para tomar una decisión que todos estén de acuerdo. Como impactara mi futuro será que por participar con este proyecto pueda hacer horas de servicio comentario.

 My past relation with the earth is that I became interested in ecology club. I was collaborating a full 100% with the project but I attended meetings and stayed after school with the group to collect and empty the recycling bins to make sure all the bottles could be recycled. I moved school and started this project because it was one of my classes. The garden already created when I arrived. I started by watering the garden and the plants. The significance that I have with the garden was that I started watering the garden and soon planted peppers. Also we have class time to work on the garden. What I do is uproot the weeds and plants that do not give enough space for plants originally planted. The academic importance of this project is that it is group collaboration and helps students learn to collaborate with each other and come to a conclusion to make a decision that all agree. As how it will impact my future will be that for participating in this project can do hours of service reviews.

Growth. Growth is many things. It’s an act, a process, an art form even. It happens with a natural flow. Growth shouldn’t be forced… maybe just assisted. Even though things grow into different things, the process is always similar.

            Growth comes in different ways, maybe even spontaneously. Knowledge plays the role water does with plants in the growth of a being, it works together with sunlight or thought creating a fertile and prolific heart, soul and mind. The growth of a being is as sensitive as the growth of the most delicate plant. After knowledge and thought work together they produce food or wisdom and themselves and others as well.

            Crecimiento. El crecimiento es muchas cosas. Se trata de un acto, un proceso, una forma de arte, incluso. Esto sucede con un flujo natural. El crecimiento no debe ser forzado ... tal vez sólo la asistencia. A pesar de que las cosas se convierten en cosas diferentes, el proceso siempre es similar.

            El crecimiento viene de diferentes maneras, tal vez incluso de manera espontánea. El conocimiento juega el papel tiene el agua con las plantas en el crecimiento de un ser, que trabaja junto con la luz del sol o se piensa crear un corazón fértil y prolífico, alma y mente. El crecimiento de un ser es tan sensible como el crecimiento de la planta más delicada. Tras el trabajo del conocimiento y el pensamiento en conjunto, producen alimentos o la sabiduría y de ellos mismos y los demás también.

El esfuerzo que le vamos a poner a la casita X es muy grande porque tenemos poco tiempo para terminarla también porque es para nuestro jardín. Ahora tenemos que sacrificar nuestro tiempo de la clase y tiempo después de escuela para terminar la casita X. También vamos a sacrificar un poco de dinero para comprara las cosas necesitadas para construir la casita X. La importancia de la casita X es que la vamos usar para poner las bicis y las herramientas adentro de la casita. Otra cosas que vamos a poner adentro es unas plantas para que crezcan y luego sembrarlas afuera. El proceso que hicimos para construir la casita X fue primero decidir donde poner la crecer es madurar como las frutas siendo buenos por dentro y fuera. También debemos crecer fuertes como los arboles y resistibles contra la lluvia así debemos que ser contra las pruebas en nuestras vidas.

We are going to put a lot of effort on this project because we need to finish it on time now that we got a Little bit of time also because it is going to help us on our garden. Now we have to sacrifice our class time and some of the time after school to finish it on time. We also need to sacrifice some of our money to buy the stuff needed to construct the shed. This shed house is important because we need it to store our bikes and our garden tools. Also because we want to grow some plants inside their to later put them outside in the garden and use it as a green house. The process that we are doing for building the shed is first chose where to put it at, then we made a small model of it, and we just need to construct it. I think that the purpose of growing is to grow mature like the fruits being good form inside and out. Also to grow strong like the trees are resistible to the strong winds that’s how we have to be strong against the problems we have.

The X Shack

The X Shack blog My is Diego Lobaton im in arroyo paseo charter high school in ms. Barrazas class. We are working on a project called "The X Shack" we are constructing a shack for the garden and to store necessary equipment. My relationship between the earth is great, i haven't littered in two years and i try to recycle when ever i can. I'm interested in forming part of this project because i like green plants. I've never constructed anything so its pretty new to me and i enjoy doing new tasks. Personally i want to participate in this project just because I'd like to help out the school out and my class. I love helping the earth and plants. This project is mandatory academically and i have no other option. You earn points and a grade in class. Personally, i don't think that this project will help me out in the future, unless i need to build another shack, then it will help me with the basics of construction.

Our scale is 1 inch to 1 foot. Our dimensions-- 10x10. Our time--Less than one hour to make four walls that are to scale and stand.

What potential does this project have? / Que potencial tiene este proyecto?

Este proyecto me ayudará a sentirme mejor, ayudando a la escuela para que trabaje en algo de que beneficiará a los estudiantes y su ' personal. También me ayuda para futuros proyectos como de participación, de construcción y planificación. También me da posibilidades de hacer mejor en otras clases porque me pone de buen humor sabiendo que voy a construir algo para ayudar a que el jardín se vea mejor y no sea solo mas pasto en la escuela. 

El proyecto tiene potencial para ser un cambio para la escuela ya que ofrecerá un exterior del jardín más limpio y mejor para jardín de la escuela. Algo que falta en el  de proyecto es motivación porque algunos estudiantes sólo quieren terminar el año escolar y otros empiezan a pensar en otras cosas y no ponen atención durante la clase especialmente cuando estamos hablando sobre el proyecto de la casita. En general creo que el proyecto tendrá éxito y será agradable cuando este completo.

This shed project will help me feel better by helping the school work on something that will benefit the students and its’ staff. It also helps me for future projects like these that Involve building and planning. It also gives me potential to do better in other classes because it puts me in a good mood knowing I’m going to build to help build a shed for the school.

The potential that project has can help to bring a change for the school because it will offer a cleaner outside and better looking garden. Something that the project lacks is motivation because some students just want to finish the school year already and others wonder off during class especially when we’re talking about the shed project. Overall I think the project will be successful and will look nice when it’s complete

Cuales plantas son importantes para ti culturalmente? / What Plants are Important to me culturally?

A mí el maíz es algo muy importante en mi cultura porque yo como muchas tortilla y también como el elote. Ay muchas comidas de tradición que son hechas con maíz como los tamales que hace mi familia en año nuevo. Otras plantas que son importantes para mí es la palma porque en california hay muchos de estas palmas que están altos y se miran maravillosos especialmente porque le dan a california una apariencia tropical y de calor. Mas plantas que no son tan tradicionales pero importantes son las plantas como hierba buena que contiene menta y ayuda cuando te duele la garganta. Y también aunque no sean importantes como otras todas las plantas sirven para algo como dar oxígeno al mundo. Para mí solo el maíz y las palmas son las plantas más importantes culturalmente y tradicionalmente para mí y mi ciudad.

To me the corn is something very important in my culture because I like many Mexicans tortillas and also corn itself. Other many meals of tradition which are made with corn as the tamales that my family make in new years. Other plants that are important to me is the tree palms because in California there are many of these palms and they are high and look wonderful especially because they give California a calm and tropical look. Most plants are not traditional to me but al also important such as plants like spearmint that helps you when you have a sorethroat. And also whether or not some plants are more important as others all plants serve for something like giving oxygen to the world. For me only the corn and tree palms are culturally and traditionally the most important plants for me and my city.

En que nos puede ayudar este proyecto

Pues este proyecto puede hacer que la comunidad tenga un habiente muy fresco. También puede ahorrarnos dinero porque si tenemos plantados frutas y verduras ya no tenemos que comprar frutas y verduras en las tiendas. Otra forma que este proyecto nos puede ayudar es que sirve para que todos pongamos más importancia y atención en las plantas. También el proyecto nos puede ayudar para crear energía solar e ya no tener que gastar y preocuparnos de los viles de la luz. Por último este proyecto nos puede ayudar a usar nuestra energía en algo bueno en vez de gastar cada día nuestra energía en la  tele y en las computadoras estando echados en el sillón o en la cama.

        Well this project could help the community create a fresh habitant. It could also help us save money because if we have fruits and vegetables planted we won’t have to spend money on them in the stores anymore. Another way that this project could help us is that it could make the community have more attention and importance on plants. Furthermore it could help create solar panels to get solar energy so that we don’t have to worry about the light bills. Lastly it could help the community use their energy and entertain us in a good way. Instead of being all day watching television or playing video games in the house being lazy all day.

Plantas importantes/ Important Plants

Pues las plantas que son importantes para mi son las de los mangos, guayabas, pepinos, naranjas, ciruelas, duraznos, y la sandia porque son frutas que me refrescan del calor del día que el sol me da también para hacer un delicioso pico de gallo. Otra planta importante que es importante para mi es la hierba buena para cuando te empaches. Me acuerdo cuando me dolía la panza y me empachaba por comer pasta cruda entonces mi mama me sobaba mi panza y me daba un te de hierba buena que estaba muy rico. También el pasto es muy importante porque sin el pasto no pudriéramos jugar deportes como el futbol o futbol americano. Otra planta que es importante son los arboles porque me da sombra cuando el sol esta muy caliente.

       Well the plants that are important for are the ones for the mangos, guavas, cucumbers, oranges, peaches, and the watermelons. Also because it refreshes me from the hot days that the sun gives me and they are good for making a delicious Pico de Gallo. Another plant that is important for me is spearmint because it is good for when you get indigestion. I still remember when I had an indigestion my mom would massage my stomach and then she would give me a spearmint tea that was very good and it would relief my stomach pain. Grass is also important because without grass we wouldn’t be able to play sports like soccer or football. The last plant that is important for me is a tree because t provides us shade for when there is a hot day.
